Wes Campbell gets a top ten in Biathlon in Poland
JAKUSZYCE, Poland — Park City native Wes Campbell placed ninth in an International Biathlon Union Junior Cup on Saturday in Poland.
The Park City High School alum is attending college at Michigan Tech University.
The ninth is a personal best for Campbell in international competition at this level. He was the top American to finish of the men in this 12-kilometer mass start 60 cross country race with a shooting result of 0/1/1/1. He skied it in 35:04.0 which was 1.26.4 minutes behind the leader who was from Greenland. Second and third places both went to Germany.
He was 15th in the same race two days before, this time in the men’s 10-kilometer sprint at the same venue. Below are stats and highlights from the US Biathlon official website.
World Championship Experience
- 2022 IBU Youth World Championships (Soldier Hollow, Utah): 37th in individual / 28th in sprint / 30th in pursuit / 7th in junior men’s relay (w/ Maxime Germain, Vincent Bonacci & Bjorn Westervelt)
- 2021 IBU Youth/Junior World Championships (Obertilliach, Austria) – 59th in youth individual / 40th in youth sprint / 52nd in youth pursuit / 5th in youth relay
