Summit County invites public input on 910 Ranch management plan

PARK CITY, Utah—Summit County is asking residents to help shape the future of the 910 Ranch through a public survey and a series of open house events. The 910 Ranch Management and Recreation Plan aims to balance recreation opportunities with conservation values, reflecting community sentiment and preserving the area’s natural resources.

The 10-minute survey, open through Jan. 31, 2025, allows residents to voice their priorities and vision for the 8,588-acre property. The survey is accessible online at summitcounty.info/910survey.

In addition to the survey, the County will host three open house sessions at the Sheldon Richins Building in Kimball Junction:

  • Jan. 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Jan. 30, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • March 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The January sessions will feature materials beyond the survey scope, providing residents with additional opportunities to engage. The March event will recap survey findings and January feedback, concluding with a live Q&A session.

“We encourage all community members to participate,” said Summit County Council Chair Malena Stevens. “This process is essential for ensuring the 910 Ranch reflects the values and needs of Summit County’s residents.”

The 910 Ranch: A Legacy and Opportunity

Acquired with federal and local funding, including $40 million from the U.S. Forest Service Forest Legacy Program, the 910 Ranch represents a significant addition to the region’s protected lands. With its expansive forests, diverse wildlife, and cultural heritage, the property offers opportunities for conservation, restoration, and recreation.

Current planning efforts include ecological assessments, cultural surveys, and restoration projects. A Volunteer Ambassador Program has been established to monitor the property, with additional community science and birdwatching events planned for 2025.

Until comprehensive management plans are finalized, public access is limited to East Canyon Road, and activities such as hunting and fishing remain prohibited.
