Snowbird opens Mineral Basin after three feet of snow in the last week
High Baldy, Lower Tiger Tail, and Blackjack Gully are open too
LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah – Snowbird’s iconic Mineral Basin officially opened for the season on Wednesday, opening 500 additional acres of pristine terrain. Recent storms have blanketed Little Cottonwood Canyon with three feet of fresh powder in the last week, bringing Snowbird’s season-to-date snowfall to an impressive 174 inches, with a solid 59-inch base.
The Mineral Basin opening follows the debut of other prime areas earlier this week, including High Baldy, Lower Tiger Tail, and Blackjack Gully, marking a progression of terrain availability for skiers and riders.

Located on the backside of Snowbird’s main mountain, Mineral Basin is known for its expansive runs, breathtaking alpine views, and varied terrain that caters to intermediate and advanced riders.
Visitors can reach the area via the Aerial Tram, Peruvian Express Chairlift, or Mineral Basin Express Chairlift.
Thanks to its sunny exposure, the area is a favorite for spring skiing, offering soft, forgiving snow well into the later months.
