Park City ski patrol union thanks community for support during historic strike

A letter to the community from the Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association:

To our Park City friends, neighbors, and the larger ski community,

We, the members of the Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association, would like to take a moment to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation for the overwhelming support we received throughout the challenging period of time while we were forced to be on strike. This experience has reaffirmed what we already knew—that our community is strong, compassionate, and united when it matters most.

As ski patrollers, we’re proud of the work we do every day on the mountain. Our job isn’t just about skiing —it is most importantly about ensuring the safety and well-being of every person who comes to ski or ride at Park City. We take that responsibility seriously, and we truly love the work we do. Over the last few weeks, we were reminded just how much we rely on the support of those around us—our families, our friends, our fellow patrollers, and the entire Park City and mountain community.

When we found ourselves in the difficult position of having to engage in a work stoppage, we never could have anticipated the outpouring of support and the level of solidarity we received. Your generosity—whether it came in the form of kind words, financial support, something to eat, a warm drink, or simply standing with us on the picket line— helped us stay strong and focused on our ultimate goal. Together we made sure that our voices were heard and that an outcome was achieved that honors the work we do. You have helped to make ski patrolling and mountain safety work a viable and livable career, and not just at Park City. We have already begun to see the ripple effects of our collective actions at ski resorts around the wasatch and the country. We are so proud, and could not have done this without you.

As we look ahead, we are energized and excited to continue working on the mountain and in this community. We look forward to sharing a great rest of this season and beyond with all of you. There is much to be done, and we are more committed than ever to our roles as stewards of safety. We truly could not be more grateful to be part of this incredible community that shares these values. We appreciate you—our Park City and mountain family—and we look forward to attempting to repay your support and kindness by continuing to serve this incredible place and all who visit it, year after year.

With deepest gratitude,

The Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association
