BREAKING: Park City Mountain and ski patrol union reach tentative agreement

UPDATE : Park City ski patrol strike officially over as union carves out new deal

PARK, CITY, Utah — Park City Ski Patrol Union members will cast a crucial vote later today to ratify a new agreement with Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN), potentially ending a 12-day labor strike. Announced late last night, The union’s bargaining committee has reached an agreement they endorse, which could restore normal operations at Park City Mountain if approved by union members.

A joint statement by both parties

“Park City Mountain and the Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association (PCPSPA) are pleased to announce that they have reached a new tentative agreement through April 2027. The Union’s bargaining committee is unanimously endorsing ratification by its unit with a vote scheduled to take place on January 8. The tentative agreement addresses both parties’ interests and will end the current strike. Everyone looks forward to restoring normal resort operations and moving forward together as one team.”

Park City Mountain, one of the largest ski resorts in the U.S. and owned by Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN), faced significant operational disruption as nearly 200 ski patrol and mountain safety workers launched an unfair labor practice strike on Dec. 27. The strike affected operations during a critical holiday period for both the resort and the Park City community. Operating at just 17% capacity, the resort saw long lines and crowded slopes, leaving many guests frustrated and disappointed with their experience.

Jennifer Wesselhoff, President and CEO of the Park City Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau, shared a statement yesterday, saying: “The best way to navigate these difficult circumstances is to recognize the strain we all feel and to continue to treat each other with kindness, civility, and respect. Committing to positivity and mutual support in challenging times defines our Mountainkind character. Regardless of where we stand, we are neighbors first and will be neighbors long after the strike is settled.”

The statement mentioned that until the contract is finalized both ski patrol and the mountain will not be responding for comment.
