Transit to Trails program returns this weekend

PARK CITY, Utah — The popular Transit to Trails winter shuttle service resumes operations today through Sunday, Dec. 22, offering free transportation for winter sports enthusiasts between Park City and Empire Pass.

The service, jointly operated by Park City Municipal Corporation and Utah Mountain Shuttle, caters to skiers, snowshoe trekkers, and fat tire bikers looking to access trailheads while reducing traffic congestion in the area.

Shuttles depart from 1376 Munchkin Road in Park City, with drop-offs at Empire Pass via Twisted Branch Road. The service operates Thursday through Sunday, weather and conditions permitting.

While advance reservations are recommended through the booking system for trips to the trailheads, return transportation can be arranged directly with drivers. Utah Mountain Shuttle operates the service using marked Sprinter vans, and riders are advised to arrive 10 minutes before scheduled departure times.

Cyclists must email in advance to accommodate bikes, and alternative pickup locations within Park City may be considered based on group size and location. The service accepts walk-on riders when space is available, and drivers accept gratuities.

For questions or schedule changes, passengers can contact Utah Mountain Shuttle at 801-298-2191 or utahmountainshuttle@gmail.com.

The initiative aims to enhance public access to winter recreation areas while preserving local landscapes and reducing environmental impact. Riders are reminded to prepare for variable weather conditions and follow leave-no-trace principles.
