Registration opens Jan 6 for expanded Park City preschool program
PARK CITY, Utah — Park City School District will open registration for its expanded preschool program on Jan. 6 at 9 a.m., marking a significant growth in early childhood education offerings for the 2024-2025 school year.
The expansion, approved by the Park City School Board in October, will double classroom capacity at both Parley’s Park Elementary and Trailside Elementary Schools. Each location will increase from two to four classrooms for the 2025-2026 academic year, allowing the district to serve up to 288 students, up from the current 156.
“Less than 60% of our kindergartners have had access to four-year-old preschool, and just 20% have experienced three-year-old preschool,” said Dan Gallery, Preschool Director for Park City School District. “This expansion provides more children the opportunity for early school and literacy readiness.”
The program restructuring includes a shift from two half-day sessions per week to full five-day options for three-year-olds. Parents of three-year-olds will also have access to after-school programs for the first time.
The district will offer both full-day and half-day options five days per week for both three- and four-year-olds. To support the expansion, the district plans to add a licensed early childhood coordinator to its preschool team.
The Park City Education Foundation continues to support the initiative, providing over $125,000 in annual funding to maintain program affordability and accessibility.
Interested families can find registration details, tuition information, and schedules on the Park City School District’s website. District officials encourage early registration due to limited space availability.
