Park City’s Jewish Family Service teams up with Vail to offer employee mental health support alongside their aging assistance

PARK CITY, Utah — Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Park City was recently chosen as one of the mental health counseling referral agencies for Park City Mountain’s Employee Assistance Program.

One of the JFS counselors meets with clients in person at their Park City office located at 1960 Sidewinder Dr., Suite 103, and they also offer online counseling. The JFS mental health counseling program is offered to the public, on a sliding-fee scale, and most of their clients pay no more than $5 to $10 per session.

JFS is also partnering with Cambia Health Foundation in offering in-home respite care to those in need. The purpose of the program is to support older adults to age in place successfully; to relieve stress and emotional burden on family caregivers; and to provide access to affordable, in-home respite care to the many families who cannot otherwise afford this service.

Exploring Creativity, an online art class for those 55+, is open to everyone regardless of location, with arts supplies included. Older adults who engage in creativity have better emotional, cognitive, and physical health. In this group for adults 55+, are introduced to and participate in a different form of art each month. This class is held virtually every Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 am. No art experience necessary. Email Emily Christensen, JFS’ Arts & Aging Coordinator for further information at emily@jfsutah.org.

JFS’ Older Adult programs include a Caregiver Support group that meets monthly in Park City. This program supports those caregivers who have loved ones with dementia. November’s monthly theme was, “How to Navigate the Holidays with Dementia.”

JFS’s Older Adult Services Coordinator provides outreach, in-home assessments, resource coordination, and clinical services for older adults, people with dementia, and caregivers of older adults. They can assist in care planning and provide clinical expertise and appropriate referrals to help clients improve their situations and meet the challenges in their lives.

The staff at JFS thanks those who donated to their nonprofit during LIVEPC GIVEPC.
