Park City chef takes game day rivalry to TODAY show
PARK CITY, Utah — A local chef will bring a taste of Park City’s fine dining scene to national television this week, featuring two signature dishes inspired by an upcoming NFL matchup.
Matthew Harris, chef at tupelo Park City, will appear on NBC’s TODAY Show Friday during the 8 a.m. hour to prepare competing dishes ahead of Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs.
“It is such an honor to be a special guest of the TODAY Show and celebrate my favorite part of Sunday night football – the food!” Harris said. “While we’ll be giving viewers just a taste of what tupelo has to offer, we invite food lovers from across the country to join us in our dining room this winter for a globally-inspired fine dining experience and signature Southern hospitality.”
The segment will showcase two of Harris’s creations: Slow Braised Korean Short Rib Tacos with Brussels Sprout & Kimchi Slaw and Gochujang Sesame Dressing representing the Chargers, while his Beef & Barley dish featuring creamy barley risotto and farm greens will represent the Chiefs.
Harris’s restaurant, tupelo, opened in 2015 and emphasizes artisanal and sustainable ingredients, many of which come from the chef’s own micro-farm in nearby Midway. The restaurant has earned Wine Spectator’s Best of Excellence award since 2019 and was named 2024’s Best Restaurant by Salt Lake Magazine.
The cooking segment will air Friday, Dec. 6, ahead of the Chargers-Chiefs game on Sunday, Dec. 8. Tupelo serves dinner nightly starting at 5 p.m.
