Minor struck in Heber City crosswalk, driver cited
HEBER CITY, Utah — A minor was hospitalized Sunday after being struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk at the intersection of East Center Street and South Main Street, according to Heber City Police.
The incident occurred when a driver making a left turn from East Center Street onto South Main Street hit the juvenile pedestrian who was crossing from west to east in the marked crosswalk.
Police said the impact threw the pedestrian onto the hood of the vehicle before she landed between traffic lanes. She was transported to Heber Valley Hospital with head and ear pain, along with other injuries.
The driver, who told police he was watching another vehicle in the opposite turn lane, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
The case remains under investigation by the Heber City Police Department.
