Utah’s Finau helps USA clinch Presidents Cup victory
MONTREAL, Canada — Tony Finau was on the winning team on Sunday as the USA beat the International players in the PGA President’s Cup. USA has now won 13 out of the last 15 Presidents Cups.
His personal scores were 2-0-0, 0-1-0, 0-1-0, and 2-2-0 for the four days of no-cut, non-traditional play during which different athletes are coupled together to shoot in varying formats.
U.S. Team won 18.5-11.5.
Pictured above is Finau with twosome teammate Xander Schauffele. “I didn’t grow up playing team sports, so it’s important, I think, for a team to be cohesive and to get along and to laugh, at least in my eyes,” said Schauffele to the PGA.
At one point weather delays prompted Finau to sport a Utahesque ski cap while almost all the rest of the field dawned baseball caps.

The vibe at the Royal Montreal Golf Club was one of encouraged fun and frivolity as compared to traditional quieted golf. This included costumes on spectators, yelling from fans, and the recognizable Bom, Bom, Boms of singalong song “Sweet Caroline” cranked up loud.
