Allison Zarkos has been a JWW leader of the small army of fundraising volunteers for this, her fourth year in the role. She told TownLift, “100% of the ticket proceeds go directly to the sports programming costs.”
JANS Winter Welcome proceeds benefit the students in YSA afterschool programs and athletes training with our seven partner teams including: Figure Skating Club of Park City, Park City Ice Miners, Park City Ski & Snowboard, Park City Speedskating Club, Utah Olympic Park Skeleton & Bobsled, Wasatch Freestyle and Wasatch Luge Club.
Christine Hind, Executive Director of Park City Ski and Snowboard told TownLift, “Thanks to JWW, we’re able to offer programming at a 20% lower rate across the board, for families.”
Additionally, community members are invited by YSA to stay tuned for the online JWW Silent Auction for the chance to bid, via cell phone, on hundreds of items and experiences, beginning next week.
I've lived in Park City for 30 years but right off the starting line, my journalism professors expressed plaudits after class for writing more so about the small-town sports in the surrounding mountains than the urban updates they assigned. Therefore, I’m on par punning and penning Parkites' pastimes. Turning high and early through my career, I’ve worked communications for The Olympics, the Paralympics and the Special Olympics. Additionally, there's been National Geographic, Patagonia, NCAA, USA Nordic and the United States Library of Congress, so I guess you could say this ain't my first rodeo.
