Summer sales tax revenue in Park City hits new high

PARK CITY, Utah – Park City set a new record in July 2024, collecting over $2.7 million in sales tax revenue—the highest amount ever for the month and up nearly 12% from July 2023.

Transient room tax revenue also rose by 18%, reflecting a busy summer tourism season, supported by popular events in town like the July 4 parade and general outdoor recreation, which many visitors come to enjoy.

The 2024 economic year has been strong overall, with February bringing in more than $3 million in sales tax—the largest monthly total in city history. Sales tax revenue is directed towards Park City’s general fund, which supports city operations, including police services, street maintenance, public libraries, and the Park City Municipal Athletic & Recreation Center (PC MARC).

This news comes after what city officials have called an economic comeback after the COVID-19 pandemic. This led to strong sales tax earnings, which in turn increased the city’s revenue. Town officials expect that growth to level off in the next year, anticipating about $2 million or 4% growth over FY24 in the city’s General Fund.
