Gear up for winter: Don’t miss Park City Ski & Snowboard’s 52nd annual Ski Swap

PARK CITY, UT — The 52nd annual Park City Ski and Snowboard ski swap, one of the largest events of its kind in the West, is set to take place from November 1 – 3 at the Basin Recreation Field House. The highly anticipated event, supported by Summit County’s RAP tax, has grown significantly over its more than five-decade history, now attracting up to 5,000 attendees each year.

For many, the ski swap is an opportunity to gear up for the season ahead while supporting a vital community cause. The event serves as the primary fundraiser for Park City Ski and Snowboard, which supports approximately 1,200 athletes. “The proceeds from this event go back into supporting our athletes, making it a win for everyone involved,” said Jason Lance, Alpine JR. Program Director.

Tickets for the event are available for purchase online, with prices varying by day. Friday with admission priced at $15, Saturday at $12, and Sunday at $5. Families are encouraged to attend, with children 12 and under admitted free, while those 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. On Sunday, attendees have the option to receive free admission by donating a canned item to benefit the Christian Center of Park City.

The ski swap has a rich history, evolving alongside Park City itself. Originally held at Treasure Mountain Middle School, the event has since moved to various locations, including Park City High School, before finding its current home at the Basin Recreation Field House. “This event has been supported by local vendors since the 1970s,” Lance shared. “It has evolved into a huge social event that not only supports our athletes but also helps recycle and reuse ski equipment.”

The atmosphere during the ski swap weekend is lively, with Friday drawing the largest crowds as eager shoppers line up to find the best deals on new and gently used gear. “There’s a real sense of community,” Lance noted. “It’s always fun to see equipment that someone bought at the swap out on the chairlifts during the season.”

As the event approaches, Park City Ski and Snowboard encourages everyone to clean their unused skis, snowboards, poles, boots, and clothing in good condition. Items can be sold at the Ski Swap with a commissioned portion coming back to Park City Ski and Snowboard. Commissioned equipment can be dropped off at Jans and Cole Sport on Park Avenue or the Skullcandy building at Kimball Junction between Oct. 28-31.

The annual ski swap remains a beloved tradition, both for the opportunities it provides to gear up for winter and for its role in supporting young athletes across Park City.
