Containment of Yellow Lake Fire reaches 42% as crews continue work in Lambert Hollow, Tim’s Hole
223 personnel remain working on the fire on the fire in the Uinta-Wasatch Cache and Ashley National Forests
The Yellow Lake Fire has not seem any increased growth in recent days thanks to the hard work of crews who have held the line in remaining avtive areas of the fire. Officials announced Wednesday, October 23, containment reached 42%.
Firefighters are working to remove hazard trees, extinguish hot spots, and repair damage along fire lines and roads. Still, over 200 personnel remain engaged on the fire. Officials with the U.S. Forest Service said the focus remains on the north half of the fire, near Lambert Hollow and the south half near Tim’s Hole, where firefighters are clearing weakened trees and containing hot spots.
Soapstone Road and South Fork of the Duchesne River access have been repaired to manage traffic flow after fire suppression efforts.
Weather Conditions: Low humidity overnight has helped firefighters manage hot spots. A cold front expected today will bring stronger winds, followed by cooler temperatures, rain, and snow in the coming days.
Closures and Access: Forest closures have been reduced to include
Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest: Closed until November 25, 2024, unless extended.
Ashley National Forest: Closed until December 31, 2024, unless extended.
