Summit County warns of smoky skies from distant fires

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Summit County officials issued a drift smoke advisory Wednesday, warning residents of smoke from Idaho fires expected to linger in the area through the end of the week.

The advisory urges citizens not to report fires unless they observe a defined smoke column. Authorities say the haze is due to distant wildfires and not local fire activity.

Residents can text SCFIREINFO to 888777 for updates on fire conditions, Red Flag Warnings, prescribed burns, and active fire information.

The county emphasizes that this is a precautionary measure and no immediate local fire danger has been reported.
