Summit County Sheriff’s deputy honored for hispanic community outreach
PARK CITY, Utah — A Summit County Sheriff’s deputy has been honored for her outstanding service and community outreach efforts, particularly in supporting the local Hispanic population.
Deputy Daniela Anderson received the 2024 Park City Elk’s Lodge First Responder of the Year Award, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.
Anderson, who joined the sheriff’s office in 2022, initially worked in the Corrections Division before transferring to the Patrol Division in late 2023.
“Deputy Anderson has proven herself to be a valuable asset to both the Patrol Division and Summit County,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Anderson volunteered for a new Community Outreach Program initiated by Sheriff Smith. The program aims to serve underserved populations, including the Hispanic community in Summit County.
As part of her outreach efforts, Anderson has distributed hundreds of informational pamphlets to help Hispanic residents understand domestic violence laws, reporting procedures, driver’s license acquisition, and other crucial issues facing the community.
The sheriff’s office praised Anderson’s impact, describing it as “unmatched and far-reaching” within the community and Summit County at large.
Anderson’s recognition highlights the importance of community-focused policing and outreach programs in building stronger relationships between law enforcement and diverse populations.
