SNAPPED: Running of the Balls rolls on, Miners Day parade winners crowned

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City’s Main Street came alive with the annual Running of the Balls and 128th Miners Day celebrations, blending modern fun with historical commemoration.

Fifteen thousand golf balls cascaded down a three-block track in the Running of the Balls event, raising funds for Park City Rotary Club’s community projects. Eileen Gallagher claimed victory in the Silver Strike Ball Run, winning a $3,000 travel package.

The festivities continued with the Miners Day parade, a tradition dating back to 1896. This year’s celebration also featured awards recognizing outstanding contributions to the celebration of Park City’s mining history.

Three $1,000 prizes were awarded, split between winning organizations and their chosen local charities:

– Best Overall: Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History

– Best Mining Themed: Meems Apparel Decoration

– Most Original/Creative: Egyptian Theatre

Benefiting nonprofits included the Park City Museum and Historical Society, Peace House, and the Egyptian Theatre itself.
