SNAPPED: Full Harvest Moon dazzles over Park City’s fall foliage

PARK CITY, Utah — Many Parkites got to witness the full Harvest Moon setting over a hillside awash in vibrant fall colors in Park City this morning. The Harvest Moon reached peak illumination on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 8:35 p.m. MT but remained visible this morning.

The term “Harvest Moon” originates from the Old Farmer’s Almanac, which has assigned names to full moons since the 1930s. It refers to the moon rising shortly after sunset for several consecutive nights, providing farmers with additional light to harvest their crops. The Harvest Moon can occur in either September or October, depending on its alignment with the autumnal equinox.
