SNAPPED: Farm to Fork feast sows seeds of community health
PARK CITY, Utah — The recent Farm to Fork event, held at Pendry’s Pool House on Sept. 12, raised funds for Summit Community Gardens – EATS, a local organization that promotes healthy eating and sustainable gardening practices in the community.
All proceeds from the event will directly support programs such as the Food Farmacy and Edible Education initiatives.
Pendry Park City hosted the event, ensuring that all money raised went directly to these programs. The support allows Summit Community Gardens – EATS to continue providing families with access to healthy food and educating children about growing, harvesting, and cooking food.
The Food Farmacy program, launched in 2023, is a collaborative effort between Summit Community Gardens – EATS, The People’s Health Clinic (PHC), and the Christian Center of Park City (CCPC). The program provides fresh produce prescriptions to patients identified by PHC as benefiting from increased fruit and vegetable consumption. In its first year, the program served over 1,700 patients and families, distributing more than 1,000 pounds of locally grown produce.
Edible Education, another key initiative, offers various programs for children and families in Park City and Summit County. These include cooking classes, garden education, and the Curious Cooks series for elementary school children in the Park City School District’s after-school programs.
