Shred for Red’ kicks off Deer Valley’s ski season, supports cancer patients

PARK CITY, Utah — Deer Valley Resort will launch its winter ski season Dec. 7 with the seventh annual Shred for Red event, inviting skiers to raise funds for blood cancer research.

The on-mountain fundraiser benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Adults must raise a minimum of $500 to participate, while children under 12 need to raise $300.

Participants receive a full-day lift ticket, an exclusive 2024 Shred for Red bib and the chance to win gold by completing on-mountain challenges. They can also ski with winter Olympians and attend the resort’s après-ski reception.

The family-friendly event welcomes skiers of all abilities. Proceeds support LLS’s efforts to assist blood cancer patients and their families throughout their cancer journey.

LLS has funded research for nearly every major blood cancer treatment innovation over the past 70 years. Recently, the organization has focused on fostering a culture of creative thinking and innovation within its team. This approach earned LLS a spot on Fast Company’s 2023 list of Best Workplaces for Innovators.

As of press time, the event had raised $168,000 toward its $1 million goal.

Those unable to attend can make general donations for blood cancer research online. Event registration is also available on the Shred for Red website.
