Park City’s Rick Bower leads newly named US Snowboard Team into 2024/25 season

PARK CITY, Utah — U.S. Ski & Snowboard announced Monday that 56 athletes have accepted their nomination to the 2024-25 Hydro Flask U.S. Snowboard Team.

The slopestyle, halfpipe, and snowboard cross rosters include a mix of experienced veterans and emerging talent. Each team features a two-time Olympic medalist: Chloe Kim (halfpipe), Jamie Anderson (slopestyle), and Lindsey Jacobellis (snowboard cross).

The slopestyle pro team is led by Red Gerard, the 2018 Olympic gold medalist, and two-time Olympian Chris Corning, who led a young crew eager to prove themselves on the World Cup circuit. The rookie squad includes Ollie Martin, the 2024 Youth Olympic Games big air silver medalist, and Lily Dhawornvej, the 2024 slopestyle national champion.

Chloe Kim, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, returns to the halfpipe World Cup circuit after an injury midway through the 2023-24 season following her X Games gold. Joining her is Maddie Mastro, a two-time Olympian who finished second in the women’s halfpipe World Cup rankings last season. Maddy Schaffrick, a team veteran and the 2023-24 halfpipe assistant coach, has returned to competition. Alessandro Barbieri, the 2024 Youth Olympic Games silver medalist, and Noah Avallone have been promoted from the rookie squad to the pro team. Zoe Guerrero and Orian Casas join a strong rookie roster.

Lindsey Jacobellis and Nick Baumgartner, reigning Olympic snowboard cross mixed team gold medalists, lead a dynamic group of snowboard cross riders. Nathan Pare, the 2024 FIS snowboard cross rookie of the year, and Theodore Mclemore have moved from rookie to pro, while Madeline Lochte Bono and Virginia Boyd join the rookie squad.

“This year’s squad features a deep talent pool with a mix of veteran Olympic champions and young talent,” said Snowboard sport director and Park City native Rick Bower.

“It’s exciting to see legends like Chloe Kim, Red Gerard, and Nick Baumgartner mentoring up-and-coming riders like Rebecca Flynn, Cody Winters, and Bea Kim. If the slopestyle World Cup in Cardrona is any indication of what’s to come, it’s going to be an exciting season.”

The slopestyle season is already underway after the August opener in Cardrona, New Zealand. The first big air event is set for Oct. 19 in Chur, Switzerland. The halfpipe season debuts Dec. 4-7 in Beijing, China, and the snowboard cross kicks off with a doubleheader Dec. 13-15 in Cervinia, Italy.
