Adoptable Pet of the Month: Meet Mother Earth
At around two years and seven months old, Mother Earth is a 41-lb. mixed breed with a heart as big as her name. She came into Nuzzles & Co.’s care from Kayenta, part of the Navajo Nation, in February with eight puppies (all named after planets). Though her puppies have all found homes, Mother Earth is still waiting for her perfect match.
While her early days in the shelter revealed a bit of reactivity in her kennel, she has blossomed in her foster home. Her foster family describes her as a gentle, attentive companion who loves short hikes and lounging by their side during work hours. Mother Earth shines when she’s out in nature, enjoying peaceful walks or car rides to explore new trails.
One of Mother Earth’s quirks is her preference for male dogs. She’s less interested in making female dog friends and is not a fan of cats. With the right home environment and guidance, she’ll continue to thrive. Her foster family has worked diligently on her training, and she now knows commands like “place,” “sit,” “stay,” and “off.”
Mother Earth has spent a great deal of time with Nuzzles volunteer trainer Melissa Jackson, who is happy to speak with potential families about their work together. Jackson reports that Mother Earth “does great with check-ins while out exploring. She loves learning and thrives with positive training.” Jackson can be contacted at 435-494-8157, melissa@junipertrailsdogtraining.com, or via Instagram @junipertrails.
Mother Earth is a “Friends with Benefits” dog, meaning her adoption fee is waived. She also receives a lifetime of free vaccinations, two weeks of complimentary boarding, and access to discounted boarding afterward.
