$10.8M impact: Park City Community Foundation fuels nonprofits, celebrates service

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Community Foundation revealed this week that it has brought $10.84 million into Park City and Summit County over the past year, significantly bolstering the local nonprofit sector.

The announcement came during the foundation’s annual Grants Celebration at Deer Valley Resort’s Snow Park Lodge, attended by over 200 nonprofit representatives and donors.

The foundation’s impact includes $3.69 million in grants to local nonprofits, $4.8 million facilitated through the annual Live PC Give PC Giving Day, and $2.2 million contributed to education and program delivery in areas such as climate change, early childcare, and mental wellness.

“Local nonprofits are the lifeblood of our community,” said Joel Zarrow, President and CEO of Park City Community Foundation. “We strengthen them by providing grants, educational opportunities, and attracting thousands of donors. This past year, we have provided grants ranging from $2,500 to $100,000 to nonprofits addressing critical community needs.”

The most recent round of Community Fund grants totaled $455,000, supporting 55 nonprofits. Deer Valley Resort contributed $100,000 to this fund.

During the event, the foundation also presented Patty Garcia with its annual Trisha J. Worthington Community Service Award, recognizing her extensive contributions to the community.

Currently the patient access director for the People’s Health Clinic, Garcia has been involved in the nonprofit sector for over 15 years. She serves on the PC Tots and Mountainlands Community Housing boards and is known for her advocacy for the Latinx community.

Sue Banerjee, Executive Director of PC Tots, praised Garcia’s dedication: “Patty has a heart of gold and is a tireless champion for childcare and healthcare. Despite working full time and raising her own children, she finds time to support the community through formal and informal ways.”

In honor of Garcia’s award, the Park City Community Foundation will grant $1,000 to a local nonprofit of Garcia’s choice.

The foundation’s Community Fund consists of pooled donations to address the community’s most pressing needs. Grants support various initiatives, including mental health services, youth programs, affordable childcare, and legal assistance.
