Park City ski resorts tighten access: Pre-purchase recommended for peak season ski days
Park City Mountain may limit day-of lift ticket sales to manage on-mountain capacity, similar to Deer Valley's approach to overcrowding
PARK CITY, Utah — Without an advanced ticket purchase or multi-pass product for the ’24/’25 ski season, you might miss the best powder day of the year. Both Epic Pass and Ikon Pass have shifted their pricing models to secure commitments from potential guests well before the season starts. Deer Valley has limited ticket sales for years to manage on-mountain capacity, and now Park City Mountain is considering a similar program.
Park City Mountain considers limiting day ticket sales
According to Emily McDonald, Park City Mountain’s communications manager, The resort may limit daily lift ticket sales this season, if needed, to ensure the best on-mountain experience for guests.
“Limiting daily lift ticket sales would not impact Epic Pass holders, including Epic Day Pass, nor guests who have purchased their lift tickets in advance. Reservations are not required for pass holders or guests who have purchased tickets in advance,” clarifies McDonald.
Skiers and riders may check the Park City Mountain website to see the status of tickets going off-sale.
Epic Pass prices will increase on Labor Day (Sept. 2) and can be purchased here.
As the price of a walk-up window day-of lift ticket is expected to be in the $300 dollar range with taxes and fees during peek season at both Park City Mountain and Deer Valley, purchasing your tickets or pass in advance is your best value and only guaranteed way to get on the slopes in Park City.
Deer Valley to require Ikon Pass Reservations
This year, Deer Valley Resort will require all Ikon Pass holders to make lift reservations in advance to adequately manage capacity and uphold its commitment to providing guests with a top-notch mountain experience. The resort recommends making reservations as early as possible, especially for holidays and weekends.
As in prior years, Deer Valley will continue to limit day-of lift ticket sales to manage overall skier capacity.
Ikon Passes can be purchased here, and reservations can be made on the Ikon Pass website once skiers’ accounts are set up.
