Police Log: Driver arrested for possession of fentanyl, LSD and methamphetamine

Tuesday, July 23

Possession of marijuana

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on I-80 Eastbound for a traffic violation. The odor of marijuana was detected by the deputies following contact with the driver. A probable cause search was conducted and a user amount of marijuana was located and a citation was issued to one of the passengers of the vehicle.

Wednesday, July 24

Possession of marijuana

After conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling with a broken head light, deputies detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle and its occupants was completed and marijuana and drug paraphernalia were discovered. The occupants were cited and released without incident.

Thursday, July 25

DUI

A vehicle was observed traveling over the speed limit and failing to maintain a single lane of travel on highway SR-224. After conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver showed obvious signs of impairment and could not complete field sobriety tests as instructed. The driver was subsequently arrested and booked for a first offense DUI.

DUI

Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for multiple violations on highway I-80 traveling westbound. When contact was made with the driver, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. The driver performed poorly on the standard field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI.

Friday, July 26

DUI

The Summit County Dispatch received multiple reports of a green Subaru swerving on the road while traveling on I-80 westbound. A deputy located the vehicle near mile marker 146 where a traffic stop was initiated. Upon contact with the driver, obvious signs of impairment were observed along with an odor of alcohol coming from the driver.  The driver participated in standardized field sobriety tests which he performed poorly on.  He was subsequently taken into custody for DUI and several other alcohol related offenses.

Sunday, July 28

Retail theft, possession of fentanyl

Deputies received a report of theft by the Walmart on Landmark Drive. During the course of the investigation, a second individual was identified as being the second theft suspect. The second individual was arrested for theft as well as previous outstanding warrants for arrest. A search of the individuals following the arrest revealed distributer amounts of fentanyl. The individual was booked without incident.

Friday, August 2

Possession of cocaine

Deputies responded to a hotel on West High Mountain Road regarding a white powdery substance that was found in one of the employee’s workstations. The substance was tested and subsequently it tested positive for cocaine. Multiple attempts were made to contact the individual believed to be involved in this incident with no success. The drugs were booked in the evidence room to be destroyed.

Sunday, August 4

Possession of marijuana, fentanyl, LSD and methamphetamine

A vehicle was pulled over for several traffic violations on highway I-80 headed eastbound. During the course of the traffic stop, a K9 indicated to the vehicle for the odor of narcotics.  A search of the vehicle revealed 156 fentanyl M30 pills, LSD, methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.  The driver was taken into custody due to the narcotics being located in her purse.  The passenger admitted to the marijuana and was cited and released on scene. The driver was subsequently charged with possession with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tuesday, August 6

DUI

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation near the Kimball Junction Chevron. Contact was made with the driver and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from the vehicle. The driver performed poorly on the standard field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for a DUI.

DUI

An off-duty Summit County Deputy reported a possibly intoxicated driver that had nearly caused a head on collision while traveling on highway SR-32 near Kamas.  The suspect vehicle was located and a traffic stop was initiated.  When contact was made with the driver, obvious signs of impairment were observed as well as an opened beer can.  The driver performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently taken into custody for DUI.

Thursday, August 8

Vehicle theft

Deputies were requested to reach out to the registered owner of a Dodge Caravan found in Wyoming. The owner reported that the vehicle seemed to be missing from his driveway. The Wyoming Highway Patrol reported that the vehicle was discovered in Rock Springs, Wyoming, after being flagged as a potential DUI case, leading to the arrest of a juvenile driver. The owner’s details were given to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, and arrangements were made for him to collect his vehicle.

Friday, August 9

Assault

Deputies were dispatched to an assault report on North Silver Creek Road. The complainant stated she had been attacked by another woman and had sustained facial injuries. During the investigation, signs of an assault were found. One woman was cited for assault and released at the scene.

DUI

At SR-224 and Canyons Resort Drive, a traffic stop was conducted for a moving violation. The driver showed signs of impairment and had an odor of alcohol on her breath. After performing poorly on standardized field sobriety tests, she was arrested for DUI.
