Park City’s Junction Commons seeks artists to revitalize iconic moose statue
PARK CITY, Utah — Junction Commons, formerly known as Outlets Park City, is seeking artists to revitalize its iconic 7-foot moose statue at the shopping center’s entrance.
The statue, a remnant of a past community art initiative, has become a familiar landmark in Park City. Originally installed as part of a fundraising campaign for local cultural institutions, the moose now stands ready for a revamp. Junction Commons is incentivizing artists with a $500 stipend and covered material costs to reimagine the sculpture’s appearance.
“Park City has such a strong presence of public art. We want to honor that at Junction Commons by
maintaining and preserving our moose sculpture that so many Parkites recognize as a part of our art & culture make up.” says Abby Phillips, Marketing and Specialty Leasing Manager for Junction Commons.
The call for artists is open to all backgrounds and experience levels. Applicants are asked to incorporate Junction Commons’ branded colors and submit ideas with strong visual impact suitable for public display. The refresh aims to align with the shopping center’s recent rebranding from Outlets Park City to Junction Commons.
Artist applications are open through Sept. 20, with the selected artist to be announced on Sept. 25. To learn more, visit the Outlets Park City website.
