Fire danger in Summit county lowered to high

After recent rain storms local fire danger has dropped from extreme to high

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah – As of Thursday afternoon, there are no active wildfires in the county, but emergency officials urge residents to continue adhering to local fire restriction orders. Fireworks, tracer ammunition, and exploding targets are prohibited on unincorporated and state land within the county.

Statewide there are currently six large-scale fires burning in Utah according to Utah Fire Info. The most recent fire, dubbed the Hogs Heaven Fire is burning jusst east of Zion National Park and is 22 acres.

The largest fire is the Silver King Fire, which has now burned 18,222 acres and is 88% contained. That fire was naturally caused and was discovered July 5.

So far this season, Utah Fire Info. reports slightly more than half of the 50, 151 acres burned in 2024 have been from human-caused fires.

The Silver King Fire has been burning since July 5 and is located south of i-70 in the Fishlake National Forest. (Utah Fire Info.)
