Significant weekend fires include the Graph Point and Spears Fires (1,200+ acres each), the Deer Springs Fire (11,765 acres, 80% contained), and the Silver King Fire (17,648 acres, 20% contained). Utah ranked second least eco-friendly state
A new Cartridge Save study ranked Utah as the second least eco-friendly state in the U.S., with a score of 30.46. Despite high rankings in national parks and electric vehicles, poor air quality, high GHG emissions and energy consumption contribute to its low ranking.
Shredshox, created by race car drivers Ken Nichols and Nick Foster, has introduced a ski system with shock absorbers inspired by car suspension technology. The sixth-generation prototype uses lightweight materials and aims to enhance stability and comfort for skiers. The system will be showcased at ski shows in January 2025, with sales expected by the end of the 2024-25 season.
Starting Monday, July 29, Guardsman Pass Road will be closed Monday through Thursday for repaving to improve safety and road quality. The work will be done in two phases, with each phase requiring a full Monday-Thursday closure.
