Gunman who was killed by Yellowstone rangers had planned a July 4 mass shooting, park reveals
Early on July 4, a woman in Yellowstone National Park reported being held at gunpoint by Samson Lucas Bariah Fussner, who threatened a mass shooting. Rangers found Fussner, who fired outside a crowded dining area, and shot back, killing him. The incident, rare for Yellowstone, led to the closure of Canyon Lodge. Fussner’s motives are unclear, and the FBI is investigating the incident. The involved rangers are on administrative leave.
