Son of Heber City Police chief admits to sexually assaulting two elderly women

HEBER CITY, Utah – Twenty year-old Jayden Parker Sever, son of Heber City’s Chief of Police Parker Sever, has recently been charged with attempted rape and object rape of two elderly women while he was working as a caregiver at the Spring Gardens Senior Living center.

The purported offenses occurred during Sever’s tenure in the memory care unit, where he confessed to sexually abusing two women in their 80s, both with advanced dementia, in February and March 2024.

Utah’s 4th District Court is prosecuting Sever on attempted rape and object rape, both carrying a felony sentence.

Sever held a full-time position as a CNA and caregiver at Spring Gardens Senior Living from October 2023 to March 2024. The investigation commenced after Sever disclosed to his father, Heber City’s Chief of Police, about “inappropriately touching a resident.”

Chief Sever subsequently requested to speak with law enforcement regarding the incident, as stated in charging documents.

“This behavior, these crimes that he committed, are not something that I ever thought that he was capable of. He confessed them to me and I reported him to the attorney general’s office for criminal charges. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the crime,” Chief Sever told KPCW.

“I love my son Jayden, but I’m disgusted by his behavior,” he continued.

During an interview with investigators, Sever reportedly admitted to struggling with lust for several years and confessed to having thoughts about engaging in sexual acts with a resident. The charges allege that he believed he could easily assault a resident and escape consequences because of their inability to resist.

Starting in February, Sever detailed several instances of sexually abusing an 85-year-old woman with advanced dementia when unobserved, according to the charges.

The charges also allege that he attempted to rape another 82-year-old resident while assisting her in the bathroom, but ceased when she refused. Sever purportedly told investigators that he changed his clothes right before another employee entered the room, interpreting it as a “sign from God.”

On March 6, Sever was “let go” from the care center for unrelated reasons, according to court documents.

Sever is currently being held in the Utah County Jail without bail.

Police Chief Parker Sever was sworn in as Heber City’s Chief of Police in October of 2023.
