Scammers attempting to collect repayment for COVID-Era PPP Loans

PARK CITY, Utah — Local detectives are warning the public about a new twist on an old scam that involves the COVID-19 virus. Scammers are contacting individuals, claiming they need to repay their government-issued Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) COVID loans or face arrest.

While the use of threats to demand payment for fines or penalties is not new, the incorporation of PPP loans into the scam is a recent development. Authorities emphasize that law enforcement officials will never contact individuals to ask for payments.

If you believe you are a victim of this scam, please call Police Dispatch at 435-615-5500.
