Habitat for Humanity welcomes five Park City families to their new homes
PARK CITY, Utah — Five families celebrated their graduation from the Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program on Thursday, July 17, in Silver Creek Village. The event marked the culmination of their efforts to achieve homeownership through Habitat for Humanity of Summit & Wasatch Counties.
The program, which provides affordable housing options, allows families to participate actively in the construction of their homes. This hands-on approach aims to foster a sense of community and investment among participants. Habitat for Humanity serves as both the builder and mortgage lender, ensuring a comprehensive support system for new homeowners.
“This is the first time we have had five families at the same time all, They have become a little community even before moving in by working through their sweat equity together and that is just really meaningful to us” Shellie Barrus, Executive Director Habitat for Humanity of Summit & Wasatch Counties.
Habitat for Humanity states that the impact of affordable homeownership extends beyond just housing. It contributes to greater economic stability, better educational opportunities, increased civic engagement, and improved health outcomes for families.
