US Ski & Snowboard and X Games announce strategic partnership

Winter X Games series to feature premier snow sports competitions

PARK CITY, Utah — U.S. Ski & Snowboard and X Games announced a strategic partnership on June 27, 2024, aiming to unite their efforts in promoting the best action snow sports athletes. This collaboration will introduce the Winter X Games Series, incorporating U.S. Ski & Snowboard-hosted FIS World Cup events, the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix, and Visa Big Air presented by Toyota with Winter X Games events.

The partnership seeks to enhance snowboarding and freeskiing competitions by establishing a clear path to the Winter X Games. “Collaborating with X Games is an exciting step forward in our mission to provide more world-class competitive opportunities for freeskiers and snowboarders,” said Sophie Goldschmidt, U.S. Ski & Snowboard president and CEO, in a press release. The winners of the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix and Visa Big Air events will secure invitations to the Winter X Games, with additional invitations extended to the next podium finishers if the winners have already qualified.

The collaboration will also co-brand U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Revolution Tour, a development series for upcoming athletes. Both organizations will work together on scheduling and event planning, incorporating X Games-specific disciplines such as knuckle huck and street style into U.S. World Cup weekends.

“Working with U.S. Ski & Snowboard will ensure we support and grow the athlete pipeline, which will benefit the entire industry,” added Scott Guglielmino, X Games president and COO. The partnership includes co-branding and co-promotion efforts to boost the visibility and engagement of athletes, as well as shared content to ensure complete coverage of all events.

Further details regarding event locations and dates will be announced soon.
