Top-ranked PCHS girls lacrosse team to celebrate senior night May 8
PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City High School girls lacrosse team will hold Senior Night on Wednesday, May 8 against Brighton High School at 7 p.m. at Dozier Field, celebrating the team’s four graduating athletes.
At 10-2, the Miners are the number one ranked team in their division in Utah.
Macy Hoeksema, Charlie “Chuck” Iacobelli, Sofie Neff and Peyton McClelland are the seniors on the team. Hoeksema will matriculate close to home at the University of Utah, Neff is going to the University of Michigan, McClellan to California Polytechnic State University, and Iacobelli has signed to play lacrosse at the University of California, Berkeley.
In their most recent home game on Wednesday against their strongest rival, the Olympic High School Titans, the two teams battled it out until there were four minutes remaining and the relatively close score was 10-8 Olympus. A burst of energy by the Titans then added three more points for the visiting team by the final whistle.
Overall, Neff specifically is having a big year with 40 shots on goal, landing 2.6 goals per game and 1.7 assists.
“Our four fantastic seniors have been with the team for all four years, they’re a phenomenal group,” head coach Mikki Clayton told TownLift. “They bleed Park City lacrosse. I really can’t say enough good things about them. They’re the spirit of the team, they inspire their teammates, they motivate their teammates, and they’re just real leaders, through and through.”
Clayton continued, “Our season started off a little slower than ideally we would have liked. But now our team has really started playing as one unit, really looking for one another and for the last few weeks they’ve come together mentally, physically, and emotionally and are playing awesomely.”
The Miners have three games remaining in the regular season and on May 10, they find out if, then where they’ll play in the playoffs.
