Softball’s Senior Game “W” moves Miners to postseason
PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City High School Miners Softball Team won their Senior Night game against Cottonwood High on Tuesday with a final score of 16 – 12. The team, lead by coach Ashley Manusos, made the postseason with the victory, now the 4A bracket’s 23rd seed. They’ll take on 10th seed Tooele Friday and Saturday. Park City last reached postseason play in 2021.
The softball seniors and their colleges:
- Bella Recesso, Florida State University.
- Enzo Sillman, Colorado State University
- Elspeth Stevenson, (Art) school in Virginia
- Sami Schofield, Utah Tech
- Madison Brent, University of Utah (playing hockey)
Team leaders include Brent with a batting average of 0.379 and a fielding percentage of 0.974. Also, Schofield whose on base percentage is o.556 and claims seven stolen bases.
This is the first season for which Manusos has been the team’s head coach. She previously coached at the NCAA level in Iowa and then for Select Softball in Washington while serving Active Duty.
“These seniors are highly skilled athletes who are all starters and incredibly hard workers. They’ve taken true leadership roles in helping out their JV teammates, their school, and their community. They will definitely be missed,” Manusos said.
