Rancho Luna Lobos to represent USA at Dogsled Racing World Championships in Europe
PEOA, Utah — On behalf of the United States Federation of Sleddog Sports (USFSS), the Rancho Luna Lobos Sleddog racing team has been named to represent the USA at next winter’s World Championships in Norway. International Federation of Sleddog Sports (IFSS), which is based in Brussels, Belgium, will organize the race in February 2025.
Rancho Luna Lobos, a family-operated business located in Park City, announced their excitement via social media, and are now in preparations for the upcoming logistics of international flights with at least eight dogs, a sled, food, etc.
“Fernando and the pups made the team! We’re grateful to USFSS for the opportunity to represent our country at the World Championships in Norway this coming winter, 2025!” Dana Ramirez said. “I’m proud of my husband and our sweet, furry kids. I am so excited to go on this exciting adventure! We’re working hard. Exciting things are coming.”
The Rancho Luna Lobos team are underdogs. Six out of the top ten winningest past IFSS World Championships elite medalist are from Norway. Finland, Poland, and the Czech Republic round out that statistic. Scrolling down, the USA hasn’t yet landed on that list’s top 50 nations, a fact that Rancho Luna Lobos aims to change.
“Congratulations on this prestigious achievement,” USFSS President Brad Cassing wrote in a May 14, statement. “We look forward to having you be a part of our team, as we know you will represent Team USA well.”
Since the first World Championships in 1990, the few times it’s not been held in Europe, the Sled Dog World Championships have been hosted in Canada, Alaska, Michigan, Oregon and Lake Placid, NY.
Park City locals and visitors may not be able to make the trek to Norway to cheer the team on, but they can support the cause with Rancho Luna Lobos branded logo hats, shirts and more via the Luna Lobos gift shop.
