Miners Lacrosse boys team advances to State finals

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Park City High School boys varsity lacrosse team defeated East High on Saturday to advance to the State finals, which will be held Friday, May 24 against Brighton.

Park City beat East High in the 5A playoffs quarterfinals of the Utah High School Athletics Association (UHSAA) with a score of 13 – 8 at home at Dozier Field. Then on Wednesday, they were triumphant against Olympus, but by just one point at 7 – 6.

That semifinal game was nothing new for Park City’s Goalie coach Kyle Cord who was a student-athlete lacrosse player at Westminster University where the game was held.

Even though Park City is on a roll, especially with last game’s stellar performances from A.J. Silianoff and Wade Birch, they’ve got their work cut out for them as Brighton has averaged 15 points per game this season to their 9. Going in to the Championship game, the Bengals are sitting at 19-1 over the Miners 15-4 record.

The game is scheduled at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, The third ranked Miners take on second ranked Brighton Bengals in Salt Lake City at the Zions Bank Field for the title of Utah State Champions.
