Alta Ski Area breaks 15-season record with back-to-back 600-inch winters
ALTA, Utah — For the first time in 15 seasons, Alta has recorded back-to-back winters with more than 600 inches of snow. After a slow start and a persistent weak layer problem, the ski area has reached the lofty threshold of 612 inches of snow for the season. Another storm this past weekend helped Alta get there, with two feet of snow reported by OpenSnow.
Last winter was the biggest snowfall year on record, dumping more than 900 inches of snow on the ski area.
