Amidst cancer fight, Summit County deputy returns to duty

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — After undergoing surgery just four days post-brain tumor diagnosis, Deputy Taesha Higbee is now back patrolling our streets and school hallways.

In Dec. 2023, the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Summit Lodge 20 organized a benefit fundraiser and concert to support Deputy Higbee’s ongoing battle with cancer. Donations were collected to help cover medical expenses and support Deputy Higbee’s wife, Jennie, in staying by her wife’s side through the recovery process.

Deputy Higbee serves as a school resource officer for the North Summit School District and stands as one of the department’s only female defensive tactics instructors.
