Parkites dominate X Games with Podmilsak and Stevenson taking gold, Hall and Atkin earn silver
ASPEN, Colo. — Troy Podmilsak of Park City won the gold medal at the X Games in Aspen, Colo. on Friday night in the Mens Big Air competition.
On Saturday night, Park City’s Colby Stevenson won gold in the Men’s Knuckle Huck competition. Alex Hall placed seventh.
On Friday, Park City’s Hall took the silver in the Big Air, and on Saturday, he got another silver in the Men’s Ski Slopestyle, the sport for which he won Olympic gold in the Beijing 2022 games. Stevenson was fourth on Friday after crashing and losing a ski on his first of three runs. After his second Slopestyle run, he was in podium position but bobbled a bit on his third. Only the best of three runs counts, and he was bested in the end, just missing the podium. Stevenson won the silver medal in Big Air in the Beijing 2022 Olympics.
Parkite and 2022 Olympian Zoe Atkin got silver in the Women’s Ski Superpipe in Aspen.
The last time Aspen/Buttermilk’s event contract was up with X Games, Park City was on the short list of towns to be considered to sign a multi-year event contract. Seeing as the annual dates correlate with those of the Sundance Film Festival, Park City declined.
Live events for the international, Olympic-sanctioned competition continue until late tonight.
