SNAPPED: Quicksilver Gondola cabin gets a new look

PARK CITY, Utah — Cabin #1 on Park City Mountain’s Quicksilver Gondola debuted a fresh face this week as a part of a new outdoor art installation.

Created by artist Lamont White, the artwork is entitled “UPLIFTED,” and is inspired by the concept of joy and community.

The art piece is a part of the Gondola Gallery by Epic, a new outdoor art installation and film series aimed at celebrating the backgrounds of skiers and snowboarders.

To celebrate the beginning of the 2023-24 winter season, Vail Resorts commissioned several visual artists to create original art work that wraps four gondolas across North America.

“My art represents a goal, which is the normalization of Black and Brown faces in ski and mountain spaces. That goal is my inspiration for this piece. These are the spaces I live and recreate in,” White said. “My hope is that viewers and riders feel uplifted by my work, whether that’s feelings of joy, challenge, inclusion, or other emotions.”

Lamont’s artwork will also be displayed at Miner’s Camp, and posters of the artwork will be on sale throughout retail shops at Park City Mountain.
