Just in time for après, Old Town Cellars reopens

PARK CITY, Utah — In the face of adversity, Old Town Cellars (oTc), a local winery and local hang-out, reopened its doors on Sept. 2 following the aftermath of a devastating pipe burst that flooded the cellar in feet of water and dirt. Although the journey to restoration was challenging, oTc stands as a testament to its resilience and passion for being a small-town business on Main Street.

Stephen MacKay, owner and founder of oTc, learned from this unexpected challenge and chose to reopen. In times like these, communities often rally together, and that’s precisely what happened. The community rallied with oTc so it could get back on its feet better than ever. “Hopefully, the third time is the charm,” said MacKay.

The team at Old Town Cellars embraced the opportunity to revamp and enhance their offerings. Drawing from past experiences in the world of five-star hospitality, MacKay aimed to maintain the winery’s local charm while adding a touch of sophistication.

A new development is the introduction of wine flights, offering patrons the chance to savor five two-ounce pours of oTc’s core wines: Mountain Town White, Townie Rosé, Mountain Town Red, Outlaw, and Superior. Wines are paired with a selection of cheeses from Fernando at Gold Creek Farms, like chai tea cheddar, truffle cheddar, cherry sage, and a savory seven-mushroom cheddar. For a dessert pairing, artisan Bobbye from HoneyB Cakes in Kamas provides chocolate truffles.

Old Town Cellars is not just focused on providing a premium experience. By offering affordable options for all, oTc remains dedicated to its roots, ensuring there’s something for everyone (including non-alcoholic beverages). The wine bar is open five days a week, and parking is free at China Bridge through Nov. 19 (with the exception of Halloween).

With the oncoming winter season, Old Town Cellars is ready to live up to being ‘the official wine of aprés.’ Despite facing significant obstacles, this local winery has risen from the depths of disaster, stronger and more determined than ever. Its commitment to providing exceptional experiences, fostering a sense of community, and offering a little piece of paradise to its patrons shines brightly, just in time for the winter season.

Old Town Cellars offers private event opportunities for holiday parties, wedding parties, or really any type of party, with the option to cater events.

So, as you plan your next night out or seek a unique wine-tasting experience, remember Old Town Cellars—the winery that rose to the challenge. Currently, oTc is seeking to fill positions like bar manager. To inquire about open positions, reach out to info@oldtowncellars.com.
