Cow moose safely reunited with her calf after highway encounter in Parleys Canyon

Division of Wildlife Resources officers and others were able to safely tranquilize and relocate the cow to the safe side of the fence to be reunited with her calf.

SUMMIT PARK, Utah — A cow moose found herself in an unusual predicament when she ventured onto an I-80 on-ramp near the Parleys Canyon wildlife crossing overpass. The incident saw the mother moose separated from her calf by the imposing wildlife fencing that lines the interstate.

The situation attracted the attention of both concerned motorists and local authorities. Utah Division of Wildlife Resources officers along with local law enforcement were able to safely tranquilize and relocate the cow to the safe side of the fence to be reunited with her calf.
