1 killed in accident on S.R. 189

A Ford pickup truck pulling a camper trailer fatally collided with a tractor trailer carrying Swiss cheese.

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — An individual was killed yesterday on S.R. 189 in an accident involving a tractor trailer.

According to a statement from the Utah Department of Public Safety, a Ford pickup truck pulling a camper trailer was traveling northbound on S.R. 189 near milepost 20 yesterday at approximately 12:04 p.m.

A tractor trailer carrying Swiss cheese was traveling southbound in the same location. For unknown reasons, the Ford traveled into the southbound lanes and struck the front passenger side of the tractor trailer.

“The Ford continued past the tractor trailer and off the roadway where it caught fire,” said a statement from DPS. “The driver of the Ford suffered fatal injuries in the fire. The driver of the tractor trailer received minor injuries.”

The identity of the driver of the Ford has not been released.
