Mountain biker airlifted following serious accident on the Crest Trail
PARK CITY, Utah — A man was transported from the Crest Trail by a Life Flight helicopter after a mountain biking accident on Sunday, September 10.
According to a statement from the Park City Fire District (PCFD), the man was near the area of the 9990 on the Crest Trail when the accident occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. Due to the remote location and the man’s injuries, responders determined that the best course of action would be to hoist the man off of the mountain with a Life Flight helicopter.
Park City Mountain, Summit County Dispatch, United Fire Authority, the Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center, Unified Police Department and the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue all responded to assist with the operation.
“These incidents have the potential to be lengthy campaigns,” said PCFD Captain Eric Gomm. “It is only by the coordinated efforts of all involved this patient was able to be helped off the mountain as quickly as possible.”
