SNAPPED: Zion National Park begins construction on new Discovery Center
EAST ZION, Utah — Gov. Spencer Cox and others celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Zion National Park Discovery Center yesterday.
The new Zion National Park Discovery Center is a part of the Zion Forever Project, and is set to open in 2025 at the East Entrance to Zion National Park.
Locally sourced stone, reclaimed wood and other materials will create a 22,000-square-foot space on 19 acres.
“We are leading this project with conservation in mind,” Natalie Britt, CEO of the Zion National Park Forever Project, said in a press release. “This initiative and the Zion National Park Discovery Center help protect this corridor from incompatible development.”
“Through a series of existing and future conservation easements, we are ensuring the protection of the sensitive park environment, protecting critical migration corridors and watersheds,” Britt said. “We are also bringing real economic opportunities to the residents of rural Kane County, which holds these amazing landscapes.”
