Big Stars, Bright Nights presents The National Parks, August 5

PARK CITY, Utah —The National Parks, an indie folk pop band formed in Provo, Utah, will perform this Saturday, August 5,  at 7 p.m. at Park City Mountain as part of the Park City Institute’s Big Stars, Bright Nights concert series.

The talented four-member band, consisting of Brady Parks on vocals and guitar, Sydney Macfarlane on vocals and keys, Cam Brannelly on drums, and Megan Parks on violin is sure to delight the audience with a harmonious array of songs in the open air venue. Limited tickets are available.

Since its formation in 2013, the band has achieved remarkable success, accumulating over 150 streams and even selling out their headline tour in 2021. This impressive feat showcases the band’s undeniable talent and growing popularity among fans. The name National Parks was inspired by Brady’s love of nature.

“I have always been inspired through my songwriting to write about nature, maybe because I grew up in Colorado and then came here to Utah, where there is so much beauty, I find a lot of parallels between life, love, and nature, and with my last name being ‘Parks’ it was the perfect play on that, and went together really well,” Brady said.

Since their youth, all four band members have honed their skills on their respective instruments. Brady’s passion for songwriting and performing led him to venture into Provo’s open mic scene, where fate introduced him to the talented Sydney. It was then, in a serendipitous turn of events, that the band was born.

“Our music appeals to a wide range of ages, which is cool,” Brady said. “We started a music festival, ‘Superbloom Music Festival,’ happening in September. We love being a band from Utah so much that we wanted to celebrate the music community and the great outdoors all together in one spot.”
