Ledges Sculpture Art Talk and Community Workshop to feature renowned artists
PARK CITY, Utah—The Summit County Public Art Advisory Board, in collaboration with the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County, has shared its plans to enhance the Ledges Event Center in Coalville.
In August 2023, sculptural artwork will enhance the center, paying homage to the incredible natural beauty of the Coalville Ledges.
Inspired by the area’s ancient pictographs and petroglyphs, the sculpture will feature an interactive element—magnets crafted into artistic shapes. These magnets, similar to a collection of “modern pictographs,” will captivate visitors and invite them to engage with the artwork.
Muralist Sasha Primo, known for his work on the 2022 Hoytsville Historical Mural, will be returning to Summit County this month. Accompanied by his colleague Romeo Sosa, to install the Ledges Sculpture.
The Ledges Sculpture Art Talk and Community Workshop will take place on Saturday, July 29, from 3-5 p.m. at the Ledges Event Center at 202 Park Road in Coalville.
The event will begin with an Art Talk by Elizabeth Hora, a public archaeologist from the Utah State Historic Preservation Office. Hora will be joined by Lucie Washakie, a representative of the Eastern Shoshone Nation, who will shed light on the historical and present-day significance of the extraordinary Ledges rock art.
