Summit County Sheriff Justin Martinez approved as U.S. Marshal for Utah
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Summit County Sheriff Justin Martinez was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on Wednesday as the new U.S. Marshal of Utah.
Martinez, a Democrat, was nominated by the Biden Administration for the position in October 2022. He was reelected for a third four-year term to his post as Summit County Sheriff just a month later in November 2022.
Following his appointment, multiple state leaders had congratulatory words for Martinez on social media.
“Proud that the Senate confirmed Justin Martinez to be U.S. Marshal for the District of Utah,” Sen. Mitt Romney said in a Tweet. “A @USCG veteran and @SummitCountyUT Sheriff, Justin has dedicated his life to keeping our communities safe. Congratulations, Justin!”
“Congratulations to Summit Co. Sheriff Justin Martinez on his confirmation as US Marshal for Utah,” Sen. Mike Lee said in a Tweet. “I trust in his abilities and dedication to continue his exceptional service. His integrity and professionalism over 26 years in Utah law enforcement will serve him well in this role.”
